2011 Casual Wear- Spring Jumpsuits

Did you know that one of the hottest trends this year is the jumpsuit? This is a vintage trend that has been brought back and only slightly modified to become one of the hottest must haves of the season. If you have never pictured yourself in a casual wear outfit like the jumpsuit, it’s time to reconsider! No matter what your body type or current style preference, the jumpsuit can become your favourite outfit of the year.

The first thing you will notice in regards to the jumpsuits on the market today is the variety of fabrics to choose from. Cotton and jersey are by far the most common but you will find denim is quickly becoming one of the number one choices as well. The cotton and jersey fabrics are far more casual and can be worn for a day of lounging as well as a night out on the town. Denim on the other hand is mainly for outings rather than lounging because of the constricting feel this fabric can have. After you have made a decision regarding your chosen fabrics, the next thing you will notice is the wide variety of colors and patterns.

For spring of 2011, you will immediately find that patterns and bold colors are far more popular than neutrals, although neutral colors are still high on many women’s lists. Jumpsuits are so original in style that you will have absolutely no problems pulling off a bold pattern or color and being completely on trend. Many women worry that although they enjoy the bold patterns that it can be tacky or a bit too bold for their normal styles. If this sounds like you consider pairing a solid or more neutral color piece of clothing with your jumpsuit.

Layering a jumpsuit is incredibly easy! There are so many sweaters and jackets available today that the choice is completely yours. If you are worried about your bold jumpsuit simply pair it with a neutral cardigan or cropped jacket and this will immediately tone down the pattern or color and create an outstanding ensemble. Scarves can also be paired with your favourite jumpsuit if you’re looking to accessorize your outfit for those special occasions.

Lastly, knee high boots may be the exact footwear you’re looking for in order to complete this look for the spring and summer months to come. By tucking the legs of your jumpsuit into these boots you are creating an incredibly sexy look that is also very practical. Women love their fashion boots because they are so functional and they can easily be applied to this outfit as well. Women’s casual clothing today is so easy to wear and accessorize that you are in complete control of the creativity you bring to the world via your fashion trend choices.

Consider a jumpsuit for your spring fashion update and enjoy the vintage look that can make you look sexy and even taller for those shorter women, no matter where you are or planning to go!

Fall 2010 Fashion Trends – Masculine Meets Feminine

One of the hottest fashion trends for the Fall 2010 season is the combination of masculinity and femininity. This doesn’t literally mean that women should start wearing manly blazers with pinstripe pants, but pieces which add strength and structure will look amazing.

Masculine Mash-Up

There is no question that the hottest fashion designer of 2010 has been Alexander Wang and the inspiration for this trend can be traced directly back to his Autumn ’10 runway show. The Alexander Wang collection consisted of sexy pinstripe suits and elegantly deconstructed ensembles which resulted in chic menswear for women.

Other designers approached this trend in a less literal manner by adding structure to their collections while mixing hard and soft looks. For instance, Ralph Lauren paired a men’s vest with a romantic blouse which had puffed sleeves. Diane von Furstenberg also illustrated this trend by combining a bolero which had been covered in beautiful rosettes with cropped pinstripe pants.

The designers also inserted a sense of masculinity to their clothes with the use of classic tailoring techniques. This approach was seen on the runways of Donna Karan with her innovative boyfriend coats. What exactly is a “boyfriend coat?” Just picture it as a man’s coat which has been styled and shaped to fit a woman’s body.

The masculine-meets-feminine trend became most apparent in the designs for formal wear. Typical evening attire consists of gowns, cocktail dresses, or something of that nature but this year, women’s tuxedos made an impact. These weren’t your typical penguin suits, either. These tuxedos took things to the next level with unique fabrics and embellishments such as the Phillip Lim gold lamé design.
